On Our Own Learning Center

On Our Own Learning Center provided a safe and nurturing atmosphere for my three children to develop their social and pre-academic skills.

The teachers at this program focused on the educational growth of my preschoolers thru imaginative hands on thematic activities.

The educators primary goals are to promote and stimulate learning while the children play and have fun. In my seven year experience with this school I have always recommended this program to all preschool parents.

I have known Miss Lauretta at the On Our Own Learning Center for over two years as my daughter, Meghan D****, has been a student there. During that period of time, we have watched our daughter grow to love school because of the methods used by the teachers working within the preschool. The staff is extremely creative and academically sound. The teachers create a nurturing environment where children feel safe and free to discover new skills and develop their individual personalities. As a parent, I feel confident that my child is getting an excellent head start.

Dear Lauretta and Debbie,

I just wanted to pass along a compliment to you and your staff that I received at Chloe’s “Meet the Teacher” night for kindergarten.

After a month of kindergarten, Chloe’s teacher tells us that she still fondly refers to “her preschool” as a place that was so much fun. We were also told about how well-prepared Chloe is for kindergarten as she knows her letters, numbers and so many of the other lessons you taught during her two years at your school. She still reminds us that raccoons are ‘nocturnal’ every time one of them knocks over our garbage cans.

She really gained a tremendous deal from your school both academically and socially. You really reinforced what it means to be a good person and how to treat others with respect. She really grew as a person during those two years at your school and we could not have found a better and more caring staff of teachers.

We’re thrilled to be sending our second daughter, Elizabeth, to your school. She comes home every day telling us about the fun she’s having. As parents we couldn’t ask for more!! Thank You

Dear Lauretta,

I just wanted to take a few minutes to express my sincere thanks for the job that you and the entire staff have done with Alexandra.

Alexandra’s progress from when she started there as a 2 year old to now as a 4 year old is simply fantastic.

Her mastery of the alphabet as well as her number recognition continues to amaze us.

While her mastery of the basic education skills is clearly evident, what has been of equal importance is the fun she is having. Allie is always excited about coming to school and this has enabled us to include her in the extended lunch program that you offer.

I have had two of my children attend the programs available at On Our Own Preschool. I have to say that both children were very shy, unsure and scared to begin like most children their age. Lauretta, Debbie and the wonderful staff at the school made them feel safe and happy. My gratitude to you all is immeasurable. My comfort with the staff’s abilities and my trust in them is such that they will be graced with the pleasure of having my third child in the next school year. (Get ready!!). I was unable to express exactly how I feel for these people, so I have attached a poem that says it all from an unknown author.

From the first day I met Ms. Lauretta I felt comfortable, most kids were scared but she took control of the situation. She made them feel warm and safe with her and I said “Wow!”

Ms Lauretta shows concern and is willing to help out with my child as an individual.

This is my daughter’s second year at On Our Own, with Ms. Lauretta and all summer she was asking when does she get to go back to Ms. Lauretta’s school.
